Let’s work together to give every cat the loving home they deserve!
These are A.O.’s main in-shelter volunteers that have mostly cleaning duties.
Duties may include: Laundry; sweeping and mopping; disinfecting cages, bedding, and toys; dishes; organizing shelter materials.
Shifts available every day at A.O.’s main shelter in Diamond Springs.
These volunteers assist our front desk and office staff with their basic tasks.
Duties may include: Printing documents; putting together adoption packets; inputting animal info/bios into our system; adding emails to listserv from adoption packets and foster forms; other duties as requested by front staff.
Shifts available Monday through Friday at A.O.’s main shelter in Diamond Springs.
Volunteers must attend one, one-hour orientation session prior to volunteering. After attending the session, approved volunteer applicants will be scheduled for their volunteering shifts on the shelter calendar. At a new volunteer's first few shifts, they will be paired with an experienced volunteer who will train them on volunteer tasks.
If interested, please fill out the volunteer application HERE. Someone will contact you shortly to get you on the schedule for the orientation
Adoption Specialists are on-call volunteers who help when the Adoption Coordinator receives an adoption appointment request from the public. When an appointment is scheduled, the coordinator notifies all Adoption Specialists, and those available assist with the meet-and-greet and (hopefully!) the adoption of an Animal Outreach cat from one of our adoption centers.
Adoption Specialists are also needed for our weekly weekend adoption events at all three locations:
These volunteers get on a regular morning and/or afternoon schedule to clean cages, refill food/water, and socialize adoptable kittens and cats. for any of the Adoption Centers.
PetSmart and Petco Volunteers are trained individually by the location’s Adoption Coordinator, either Jackie Silva (Folsom location), Garry Saperstein (Placerville Petco), or Michelle Lee (Citrus Heights location). The appropriate party will contact prospective volunteers after receiving the Volunteer Application indicating a volunteer’s desired location.
If interested, please fill out the volunteer application HERE. Someone will contact you shortly to get you on the schedule for a training session.
Duties may include: Attending Fundraising Committee meetings as an active participant; set-up and take-down for fundraising events; event-related duties.
Committee meetings occur monthly; Event work available on an as-needed basis
Committee meetings occur online via Teams; Events occur all over El Dorado County.
Duties may include: Driving A.O. animals and/or paperwork to and from A.O.’s locations in Diamond Springs (main shelter) and A.O. subsidiary locations off East Bidwell St. (PetSmart Folsom) and Sunrise Boulevard (PetSmart Citrus Heights); transporting animals and/or supplies to events; pickup of ferals within El Dorado County and transfer to A.O.’s Diamond Springs main shelter.
