Our Story
Since 1992, Animal Outreach of the Mother Lode has been dedicated to improving the lives of animals and the people who care for them. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Diamond Springs, California, we provide affordable veterinary care, rescue, foster care, adoptions, and community support programs for animals in need throughout El Dorado, Sacramento, and Placer Counties.
Every day, our team works to prevent pet overpopulation, reduce shelter intake, keep pets with the families who love them, and help homeless animals find safe, loving homes.
Through the dedication of our staff, volunteers, donors, and community partners, Animal Outreach continues to save lives and create brighter futures for animals throughout our region.

- 7,608 animals spayed and neutered
- 1,519 cats and kittens adopted
- 1,633 cats and kittens rescued
- 600 community cats helped through Free Feral Day

Growing to Meet the Need
Animal Outreach is currently building a new shelter that will be twice the size of our current facility. This expanded space will allow us to help more animals, expand veterinary services, increase adoption capacity, and better serve our community for years to come.
The new facility will include expanded medical and surgical space, dedicated recovery areas, improved cat housing, adoption meet-and-greet rooms, and a community training room.
