Foster a Cat or Kittens

Save Lives Without Leaving Home

Every year, hundreds of kittens and adult cats rely on foster homes while they grow, recover from illness or injury, adjust to new surroundings, and prepare for adoption. By becoming a foster volunteer, you provide the love, care, and socialization that helps them thrive until they find their forever family.

Become a Foster Volunteer

Why Foster?

Fostering is one of the most rewarding ways to help animals in need while making a direct impact in your community.

  • Save vulnerable kittens and cats
  • Help animals prepare for adoption
  • Enjoy the companionship of pets without a long-term commitment
  • Make a direct impact on animal welfare in our community
  • Receive support from Animal Outreach every step of the way

What does fostering mean?

Fostering means providing a temporary home for kittens or cats until they are ready for adoption. Depending on their age and medical needs, foster periods typically range from one to two months.

As a foster volunteer, you provide daily care, playtime, love, and socialization, helping cats and kittens grow, gain confidence, and prepare for their forever homes.

By fostering, you can:

  • Save vulnerable kittens and cats
  • Help animals prepare for adoption
  • Enjoy the companionship of pets without a long-term commitment
  • Make a direct impact on animal welfare in our community
  • Receive support from Animal Outreach every step of the way

Animal Outreach provides food, litter, supplies, and veterinary care—you provide the love and a temporary home.

What do you need to be able to foster?

If you have pets at home, you'll need a separate space such as a guest room or bathroom where foster cats and kittens can be safely housed. Animal Outreach can provide large crates and supplies if needed.

You provide the space and love—we'll help with the rest.

Animal Outreach Provides:

  • Food and feeding supplies
  • Blankets & towels
  • Litterboxes & Litter
  • Veterinary care and medications
  • Guidance from experienced foster coordinators
  • Foster training and support

What's the process to get started?

Step 1: Fill out our Foster Application linked below.

Step 2: One of our Foster Coordinators will be in touch with you & get you scheduled to attend our Foster Orientation where we go over all the basics you’ll need to know.

Step 3: A Foster Coordinator will give you a call when we have animals in need of fostering!
