Animal Outreach is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit providing low cost veterinary care, rescue, and adoption services. As a proud No Kill Shelter, we’re a trusted resource for pets and families. The need is greater than ever—so we’re raising funds for a larger shelter to save more lives and help more families.
The demand for our services keeps rising, and our current facility can no longer meet the community’s needs. To save more lives, Animal Outreach is seeking a larger building to lease or purchase in El Dorado County.
Our vision includes:
This growth means more lives saved, reduced pet overpopulation, and a stronger bond between people and animals.
We’re proud to partner with Indigo Architects, experts in animal shelter design who work closely with the UC Davis Koret Shelter Medicine Program. Together, we’re creating a facility built for the future:
Our goal: a safe, efficient, community-focused shelter where more animals are saved — and more families find love.

We were called to help a neighborhood with four stray cats — three females and one male — cared for by kind residents who worried the females might be pregnant. Before we could trap them, the cats gave birth in a large pile of rocks in an empty lot.
Animal Outreach set up cameras to monitor the moms and kittens, ensuring they stayed safe until they were old enough for rescue. Over the next few weeks, our team patiently trapped all four adults and 15 kittens! One tiny kitten had been attacked by a predator and suffered a severe wound — without quick care, it wouldn’t have survived. Thanks to our volunteers and veterinarians, that little one healed and now lives happily in a safe, loving home.
All 15 kittens received medical care, vaccinations, and spay/neuter surgery before being adopted into wonderful families. The four adult cats were also fixed and returned to their neighborhood, where they are now healthy, cared for, and loved by the people who first reached out for help.
This rescue was only possible because of the kindness and support of people like you. Your donations give us the ability to respond when animals need us most — turning fear into comfort, and struggle into second chances.
