Free Feral Day & Community Cat Programs

Helping Community Cats in El Dorado County

Animal Outreach is committed to reducing cat overpopulation through Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) programs for feral and community cats.

When funding allows, we offer a Free Feral Day approximately once per month for feral and community cats from El Dorado County.

Services provided include:

✔ Spay or neuter surgery

✔ Rabies vaccination

✔ Ear tipping

These services help prevent unwanted litters, improve the health of outdoor cat populations, and reduce the number of cats entering shelters.

What is a Feral or Community Cat?

Feral and community cats are outdoor cats that may have little or no socialization with people. These cats are often unable to be adopted into traditional homes but can live healthy lives outdoors when their populations are managed through Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR).

TNR is a humane and effective approach that involves trapping outdoor cats, spaying or neutering them, vaccinating them, ear tipping them for identification, and then returning them to their outdoor home.

Humane Trap Loans

Animal Outreach has humane traps available to help community members safely trap cats for our Free Feral Day program. Traps may be borrowed with a refundable deposit and must be returned in good condition after use.

Our staff can provide basic trapping instructions and answer questions to help ensure a safe and successful trapping experience for both you and the cats. Please contact us in advance to check trap availability and arrange pickup.
